Wrotham Heath Golf Club
Why The 32?
Wrotham Heath GC (1906) was a 9-hole course up until the mid 1990's, before that time, the natural playing format of the members was a 2-ball. However, as the club's membership grew, with the advent of the expansion to 18 holes, 3-ball and 4BBB golf became an accepted form. To the extent that now, foursomes is very rarely played sociably.
The 32 is an initiative of mine to promote, what I believe, to be the pinnacle of the game. It has; a team element, it's competitive, it's difficult, it's very sociable and a 3-hour round is not considered fast! Thus, my thinking was to invite 32 of my favourite clubs in Kent, Sussex and Surrey to participate into a foursomes' knockout event.
How each of these clubs chooses their pairing is entirely down to themselves. As for Wrotham Heath, we will make every foursomes event within the club, a qualifier, with each of the winners of these events entered into a draw to see who will represent our club. My hope is that these highlighted events will enlighten our members to the joys of foursomes.
I hope that the pairings from each club enjoy the chance to play at, or host, any of the possible 32 clubs. I certainly, look forward to welcoming many matches to Wrotham Heath.
Please embrace and enjoy this event.
